• Remedial massage

  • When muscles and tendons become tense, knotted, strained or injured, Remedial Massage provides treatment that can be gently or strong, deep or shallow. Remedial Massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, thus healing both the cause of the disorder and reducing or eliminating symptoms.
Most pain is myofascial (soft tissue) origin. Trigger points (sensitive points in muscles, which radiate or refer pain to various parts of the body) can mimic many conditions.
Muscles not only move our joints, they stabilise them and they provide armour for the internal organs.
Musculoskeletal dysfunctions often addressed with Remedial Massage include, tension headaches; overuse syndromes (RSI) repetitive strain injuries; injuries such as rotator cuff strains; whiplash; falls; and other work related problems and also fibromyalgia. The vast majority of pain originates in postural (structural) alignment problems that sometimes go back to childhood and adolescence.
Sessions usually take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on whether the practitioner will just address a specific area or multiple area needs to be treated.
Remedial massage uses specific techniques including Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Myofascial Cupping, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF); Muscle Energy Technique - advanced stretching to return soft tissues structures to their normal resting lengths.
